Resistance figures from Palestine, Syria and Iraq have marked the first martyrdom anniversary of commander of Iran’s al-Quds force Lt. General Qassem Soleimani in Damascus recalling his role in restoring stability to Syria.
In a gathering, resistance delegates underlined the importance of his efforts in leading resistance in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Palestine.
On January 3, 2020, US President Donald Trump ordered strikes that killed General Soleimani and his companions near Baghdad International Airport.
Throughout the war on Syria, the general was a top strategist and military commander leading Iranian military advisers who helped Syria at its government's request in fight against terrorists. He frequently visited the frontlines in Aleppo and Deir el-Zour and joined resistance fighters for advisement, despite knowing he was a target for the US and its allies.
The general also took personal command of the battle against Daesh terrorists in the city of Bukamal, in Dayr al-Zawr countryside in November 2017.
For resistance fighters, he was a commander and a father. For Syrians he was a true friend and a hero. And for the Syrian army, he was a brother and an ally who was there whenever needed. And this is how martyr Qassem Suleimani will be remembered in Syria.
