The Merseyside Reds got on the scoresheet just 1 minute into the match when Naby Keita slotted home from close range.
Sadio Mane then doubled the lead for the hosts with a great header from inside the box in the 23rd minute.
Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah then made 3-0 with a clever chip before the break.
Sadio Mane scored a brace with another header from inside the box, to make it 4-0 in the 66th minute.
And finally, Salah completed the 5-0 thrashing with an easy finisher, in the last 7 minutes. Liverpool stand at the top of the table now, and must wait until Sunday to see if Manchester City can beat Burnley to regain the top spot.
