A super bloom of wild poppies has covered hillside in Lake Elsinore, just south-east of Los Angeles, after weeks of heavy rains lashed Southern California.
The super bloom has left hillsides in the area carpeted with golden and orange poppies, something which Lake Elsinore's Mayor Steve Manos hopes will bring tourists to the area.

The golden-orange poppies have created such a spectacle that commuters are pulling off nearby freeways to walk among them. Wildflowers bloom every spring in California but this year's display is expected to be especially dense and widespread following weeks of heavy rain in the region.
