“UK terror policy suffering from contradictions”

As UK PM has vowed to do more in fighting ISIL, experts say there are contradictions in London's terror policy.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron says London is committed to fight the Takfiri group of ISIL in Iraq and Syria.

In an interview with the US television network NBC, Cameron went on adding that he needs to take parliament with him before doing more in fighting ISIL.

The prime minister stressed that he wanted to see ISIL defeated in Iraq and Syria. He noted:” I want Britain to do more…Be in no doubt, we’re committed to working with you to destroy the caliphate in both countries.”

Cameron will also use a speech on Monday to warn young Britons against joining ISIl. He will say that they would end up as little more than "cannon fodder". He will also add that “If you are a boy, they will brainwash you, strap bombs to your body and blow you up. If you are a girl, they will enslave and abuse you".

But the statements have not convinced the observers about the willingness of UK government to cope with ISIl threats.

“The real problem is that the West doesn’t want to see ISIL defeated because it has created the group itself. And its partners like Turkey are not doing anything to dismantle the group in Iraq and Syria,” London-based Political Commentator Chris Bambery told Press TV.

He went on noting that the methods that the West says it is adopting to fight ISIL don’t pay off. The analyst emphasized that the only forces capable of inflicting heavy blows on ISIL in Iraq is Shia fighters and in Syria Kurdish fighters but Turkey government is not cooperating with them.

He said there are contradictions when it comes to UK policy to fight ISIL militants adding London’s word and action are different.

Bambery said ISIL has been created by the West and its regional allies’ policy in the region adding the group is part of the West’s interest in the region and the West does not want to see it totally dismantled.
