San Francisco water manager under fire after seen urinating in reservoir

The Priest Reservoir is one of four water holding reservoirs for San Francisco and other Bay Area cities.

A water manager in the US city of San Francisco is under fire for urinating into a reservoir that supplies drinking water to nearly 2.5 million Bay Area residents, a report says.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Martin Sanchez, a $111,000-a-year maintenance planner for the Public Utilities Commission, could receive a five day suspension without pay as a result of the January 6 incident at the Priest Reservoir.

A number of employees reportedly saw Sanchez urinating “several times” in the Priest Reservoir, which is one of four water holding reservoirs for San Francisco and other Bay Area cities.

Tyrone Jue, the spokesman of the Public Utilities Commission, claimed the reservoir had been drained for maintenance when Sanchez used it as a urinal. Still, Jue said the employee’s action was “not acceptable.”

“The bottom line is — you pee in the wrong place again, and you are toast,” Jue told the SF Chronicle.
