Doha indirect technical talks
Iran says the indirect technical talks in Doha are focused on following up on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding recently signed between tehran and Washington. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said working groups have been formed to oversee negotiations toward a final agreement, but no talks have started yet in this regard. He said consultations are continuing through mediators to determine the time and venue for talks within these working groups. Gharibabadi, who is leading a delegation that includes officials from Iran's Foreign Ministry, Central Bank, and Ministry of Agriculture, also met with Qatari and Pakistani mediators. Meanwhile, US envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff have held meetings in Doha with mediators on the implementation of an initial deal to end the war on Iran.
Iran warning
Iran's foreign minister has warned that any threat against the Iranian people or the country's leadership would trigger an immediate and powerful response. Abbas Araghchi issued the warning in a post on X after Israel's war minister threatened to assassinate Iran's leader. The top Iranian diplomat referred to the terms of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington. Araghchi said, under the MoU, the US is committed to rein in Israel. He warned that if Israel ignores the United States, Iran will teach them a lesson. The Tel Aviv regime’s minister of war, Israel Katz, had brazenly said that Iran’s leader is marked for death.
US-Israel military funding
Some Democratic lawmakers say they will vote in favor of a House amendment to cut off US funding to Israel’s military. Democratic congresswoman Rashida Tlaib vowed to vote in favor of a bill seeking to block over three billion dollars of military assistance to the Israeli regime. In a post on X, Tlaib said that the US should not spend another cent arming a military that is committing genocide in Palestine, ethnically cleansing Lebanon, and committing war crimes in Iran. She argued that the majority of Americans also support ending the aid and that it is time for their representatives to listen to what they say. Another Democratic representative, Greg Casar, has also announced he will support the bill, saying that Israel is committing war crimes in Gaza. The legislation has been introduced by Republican Congressman Thomas Massie, who has consistently criticized US foreign military intervention in other parts of the world.
