Iran’s armed forces have ‘finger on the trigger’ to strike enemy: Top commander

Commander of Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters Major General Ali Abdollahi

The commander of Iran’s highest operational command unit says the armed forces have “finger on the trigger,” warning that any miscalculation will be met with a devastating strike “at the heart of the enemy.”

Commander of Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters Major General Ali Abdollahi made the announcement in a Sunday message to the Iranian nation as he addressed the developments over the past year since the beginning of the 12-day Israel-US aggression in June 2025 and their 40-day unprovoked war against the Islamic Republic, which began late February.

In his forceful message to the “heroic” Iranian nation, he said the country's defense capabilities have been significantly improved, warning the adversaries that the slightest mischievous act will be met with an “unforgettable and decisive” response.

“Our combat, defensive, missile, naval, drone, and air defense capabilities are stronger than ever and have been upgraded under the orders of the Commander-in-Chief and Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei,” he added.

He emphasized, “The sons of the nation in the Armed Forces have 'fingers on the trigger,' ready to strike at the heart of the enemy.”

The top commander further emphasized that the sacred goal of liberating the occupied al-Quds and avenging the blood of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei will never be forgotten.

“We await the slightest mistake from the aggressive enemy to teach them an unforgettable and final lesson,” General Abdollahi said.

He added that the events of the past year, including the 12-day war and the 40-day war, caused heavy losses such as the heartbreaking pain of the martyrdom of the Leader, top commanders, and innocent people.

However, he emphasized, these losses provided a great opportunity for a “historic settling of accounts” with the criminals.

“Backed by the people and with divine grace, the armed forces inflicted upon them what they truly deserved,” he said.

The general noted that the Iranian nation’s resistance and renewed uprising ushered in a “new chapter” in international developments and solidified the Islamic Republic as an “influential global power.”

The armed forces, particularly the commanders martyred in the US-Israeli wars, have always considered animosity and hatred toward the arrogance and Zionism as an inseparable part of the essence of the Islamic Revolution, he said.

On June 13, Israel launched a war of aggression against Iran by assassinating several high-ranking Iranian figures, including commanders and nuclear scientists, and civilians.

More than a week later, the United States also entered the war by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites in a grave violation of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces targeted strategic sites across the occupied territories as well as the al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest American military base in West Asia.

The US and Israeli regime attacked Iran again on February 28 with airstrikes that assassinated senior Iranian officials and commanders, including Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iranian armed forces responded by launching daily missile and drone operations targeting locations in the Israeli-occupied territories as well as US military bases and assets across the region.

On April 8, forty days into the war, a Pakistan-brokered temporary ceasefire between Iran and the US took effect. Tehran and Washington have signaled they are close to signing an understanding to formally end the war.
