Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States to end the war is "closer than ever," with finalization expected within the next 24 hours.

Sharif, whose country has mediated talks between Iran and the US, said in a post on X on Saturday that an electronic signing ceremony would follow immediately after the finalization.

He added that technical-level talks are scheduled to take place next week following the electronic signing of the agreement.

“We are closer to a peace deal than ever before. With finalisation likely expected in the next 24 hours, Pakistan is preparing for the electronic signing of the peace deal immediately after, followed by technical level talks next week,” he wrote.

The prime minister further hailed the commitment of both Tehran and Washington during the negotiations and expressed his “sincere” appreciation to the brotherly countries in the region for their support of the peace agreement.

“We are confident that this historic peace deal will form a strong foundation for lasting peace,” Sharif said.

Speaking in a televised interview on Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said diplomatic efforts aimed at reinforcing the Islamic Republic’s victory in the US-Israeli war of aggression were now in their final stages based on a 14-point memorandum of understanding that has been discussed in the media.

Araghchi described the 14 provisions as interconnected, saying they formed a single package.

He stressed that the document was still subject to change until final approval and that its details would be announced after completion.

Earlier in the day, the top Iranian diplomat said in a post on his X account that a memorandum of understanding with the United States has never been closer to completion, signaling significant progress in ongoing talks between the two sides.

“The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has never been closer,” Araghchi wrote.
