Israel violating Gaza truce
The death toll from the Israeli genocide in Gaza keeps rising, as the regime’s forces continue to breach the truce deal with Hamas, causing more casualties. According to medical sources, 14 bodies arrived at Gaza’s hospitals within 24 hours, including one killed by Israeli forces’ live fire. They added that at least three children also lost their lives as a direct result of the ongoing Israeli restrictions on the entry of critical medical equipment and food into the besieged territory. The death toll from the regime's genocidal war now stands at 68,280, with over 170,370 others injured. The UN agency for Palestinian refugees says more than 61 million tonnes of rubble now cover large areas of Gaza, as entire neighborhoods have been wiped out by the regime. UNRWA added that entire families are still searching through the rubble for water and shelter due to restrictions imposed on the entry of humanitarian aid by Israel.
Gaza humanitarian crisis
A senior UN official has issued a serious warning about the catastrophic health crisis facing mothers and newborns in Gaza. The UN Population Fund's deputy executive director said 70-percent of Gaza’s newborns are premature or underweight due to widespread starvation and a failing hospital system. Saberton described a scene of utter devastation after his recent visit to Gaza, comparing it to "a dystopian film," with the enclave flattened "mile upon mile." He stressed that a dual crisis is gripping the population, including a physical one and a collapsed health system. Saberton also warned of a profound mental health catastrophe, revealing that seventy percent of Gaza's youth are suffering from depression and anxiety, signaling a long-term generational trauma. Saberton concluded by calling for true peace to guarantee safety and support for the entire people of Gaza, especially women and girls.
Iran regional policy
Iran has categorically rejected Washington’s latest allegations about Tehran’s interference in regional countries' affairs, describing them as unfounded. Iran's UN ambassador was responding to accusations raised by US envoy, Michael Waltz, at the UN Security Council. Amir Saeid Iravani said Iran’s foreign policy is firmly rooted in the UN Charter and such principles as respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries, non-interference in their affairs, and good neighborliness. He stressed that it is the unlawful military presence and destabilizing actions of the US that have fueled conflict and instability in West Asia. Iravani said the false narrative of “Iranian proxies” has been forged in order to distract the global attention from the true source of regional instability, which is the US and its unconditional support for the Israeli regime. The Iranian envoy emphasized that by repeatedly obstructing the Security Council’s mandate, Washington has rendered itself complicit in Israel’s crimes, and bears direct legal and moral responsibility for their continuation.
