UN: Israel commits genocide
For the first time, UN investigators have formally declared that the Israeli regime is perpetrating genocide in Gaza with the intent to destroy the Palestinian people residing there. The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry also implicated Israel's prime minister and other senior officials for their role in incitement. This commission released its most recent report nearly two years after the launch of Israeli genocidal war.
Netanyahu acknowledges ‘isolation’
The Israeli prime minister has acknowledged that the regime is facing increasing isolation on the world stage. The acknowledgement comes amid the massive international backlash against Tel Aviv over the genocide in Gaza. Benjamin Netanyahu was speaking at a finance ministry conference in al-Quds. He said the regime has no choice but to stand on its own and become less reliant on external trade in the face of the growing isolation. Netanyahu said Israel’s arms industries are blocked, adding that the regime needs to develop its own weapons industry. Opposition leader Yair Lapid has reacted to Netanyahu’s comments, saying the isolation is the result of flawed and failed policy adopted by the Israeli prime minister.
Calls for protecting nuclear sites
Iran has reaffirmed that all nations possess the inalienable right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and should be afforded guaranteed protection against any form of attack or threat against their nuclear facilities. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei underscored that nations must refrain from launching attacks or issuing threats against the peaceful nuclear facilities of other states. He further called upon the international community to take decisive action to prevent the increasing normalization of lawlessness in international relations. Baghaei made the comments in a social media post regarding a draft resolution tabled by Iran and five partners, including China and Russia, at the ongoing General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna. The proposed resolution calls for a ban on any act of aggression or threats against nuclear sites and facilities under the IAEA safeguards. The Iranian spokesman emphasized that this initiative is aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, NPT.
