US-Israeli Gaza genocide

The Israeli military continues to ravage Gaza with relentless attacks, killing more Palestinian civilians across the blockaded territory. At least 15 civilians were killed in the Israeli bombing of a school sheltering displaced people in Jabaliya, northern Gaza. Earlier, FOUR people were killed after Israeli warplanes struck a vehicle near Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. Also in Khan Yunis, an Israeli airstrike near the Taiba Towers killed a man and his son. A father and his daughter were killed in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood of Gaza City. In central Gaza, one Palestinian was killed, and several others were wounded after an Israeli drone struck a group of civilians west of Deir al-Balah. To the north, the Israeli artillery shelled a group of civilians in the Jabaliya refugee camp, killing a child and seriously injuring another. According to the Gaza health ministry, over 52,800 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli genocide since October 2023. More than 119,500 others have been injured.

Israeli crimes in Gaza

An international human rights organization has released a harrowing report on Israel’s deliberate targeting of women across the Gaza Strip. The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor says the regime’s forces have killed around two dozen women per day since October 2023, equivalent to approximately one Palestinian woman every hour. Euro-Med Monitor said the unprecedented rate of female casualties reflects a systematic pattern of mass killings by deliberately targeting Palestinian women. It emphasized that Israel is killing Palestinian women in Gaza as a tool of demographic destruction, which falls within the scope of the crime of genocide. Euro-Med said field data reveals systematic killing of young mothers with their children, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law. It stressed that the killing of women, especially pregnant women and mothers, constitutes a core element of genocide under the 1948 Genocide Convention. Euro-Med called for urgent international action to stop the Israeli genocide in Gaza in all its forms, and hold the regime accountable for its crimes against Palestinians.

Gaza ceasefire efforts

Hamas says it will release a US-Israeli captive held in Gaza, after holding direct talks with the United States towards a ceasefire in the war-battered territory. The Hamas leader in Gaza said Edan Alexander would be released as a first step toward a ceasefire, the opening of Gaza’s crossings, and the delivery of humanitarian aid. Khalil al-Hayya added that the decision followed recent communications with the US administration over the past few days. He said the movement has shown a high level of positivity during the talks. He also declared Hamas’ readiness to immediately begin intensive negotiations to reach a final agreement to end the war, and exchange prisoners. He emphasized that the post-war Gaza should be managed by an independent body that would ensure calm and stability, along with the reconstruction of the territory.
