Leader hails laborers

The leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution says the laborers’ community did not allow the enemy to cash in on their legitimate grievances. Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was addressing a group of Iranian workers on the occasion of Labor Week. He said Iranian laborers have some rightful objections over back wages and other issues. However, he added, they kept the enemy at bay and did not allow it to take advantage of the situation. The Leader further highlighted that the culture of seeking windfall profit should be stopped in the country. Ayatollah Khamenei noted that income should be consistent with the amount of work one does. He expressed dismay over practices such as bribery and usury in the economic sector and urged the government and Parliament to seriously deal with corruption.

Iraq president in Iran

Iran’s President has slammed the presence of foreign forces in the West Asia region, saying the deployment of US troops is harmful to the region’s security. Ebrahim Raeisi made the remarks in a joint presser with the visiting Iraqi President following their talks in the capital Tehran. Raeisi said, the US only cares about its own interests in its ties with Iraq and pays no attention to the interests of the Arab country. He added Iraq’s security is important to the Islamic Republic. The Iranian president said Tehran and Baghdad are set to expand relations in various domains and are determined to boost the volume of bilateral trade. Abdul Latif Rashid, for his part, thanked Iran for its assistance over the past decades, including the country’s fight against the Daesh terror group. Rashid called for boosting bilateral ties and described the two countries' relations as historic. The Iraqi president also hailed a deal on rapprochement between Iran and Saudi Arabia, saying it will play a major role in ensuring regional security.

Israel attacks Syria

Israel has carried out yet another missile attack on Syria, this time targeting an area near the western city of Homs. Syrian official media say the Israeli strike left three civilians injured and caused some material damage. Syrian air defenses, however, intercepted a number of incoming missiles. Israel frequently targets Syria with missiles and artillery, mostly using the airspace of Lebanon or the occupied Palestinian territories. Damascus has repeatedly condemned Israeli assaults as a violation of its sovereignty and lodged complaints to the United Nations but to no avail. Tel Aviv claims its targets are Iranian military personnel in Syria. This is while the Islamic Republic has sent its military advisors to the Arab country at the request of Damascus.
