Uk rail workers on strike

In the UK, railway workers have started a 5-day strike, demanding higher wages amid a cost of living crisis. The Network Rail warned of major disruptions, calling on people to travel only if necessary, as transportation services will be significantly reduced. Railway employees demand a pay rise proportionate to the country’s soaring inflation currently running at nearly 11 percent. Other transport sectors are also planning walkouts this week. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has, however, pledged to fight calls for inflation-busting rises, insisting the government must stick to more modest pay hikes for public sector workers.
