'Women with Gunpowder Earrings' recounts Daesh crimes

This documentary takes viewers back to the middle of the war waged by Daesh terrorists in Syria and Iraq.
'Women with Gunpowder Earrings' is about Nur, a female Iraqi journalist covering stories about Syrian and Iraqi women and children who witnessed the heinous crimes committed by the terrorists.
Five years after the production of the blockbuster documentary, its director Reza Farahmand still receives interview requests.
In 2017, 'Women with Gunpowder Earrings' won the best feature documentary award at Iran's major doc-fest, Cinema Verite. The film also won five other national and international awards.
In 2018, it became the first ever Iranian film to be nominated in the Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland.
Grabbing major global awards, 'Women with Gunpowder Earrings' is now an internationally acclaimed film as it tries to speak the truth through the language of those exposed to it, not through media or politics.
Farahmand says he owes such an achievement to his resolve to hunt for the truth in the heart of the conflict, as well as the sacrifices of his crew members.
After his 2017 blockbuster, he has two other documentaries under his belt, both about the war in Syria and its aftermath.
The last one, dubbed 'Copper Notes of a Dream', received an award at the International Documentary Film Festival Munich in 2020.
Farahmand says in his six years of experience as a war filmmaker, he learned that there is no justification for any war.
And above all, he made a comment worth millions of likes. He said he wishes to wake up to a day when he would see he has lost his job as there is no subject to work on.
