There appears to be a breakthrough in the hunt for missing senior diplomat, Richard Morris, who went missing whilst jogging in early May.
Police say they have found a body in the forest where Morris jogged regularly, but the body has yet to be formally identified.
Morris, 52, vanished on May 06 after going out for a run from his home in the village of Bentley, Hampshire.
Hampshire Police insist Morris’s death is not being treated as suspicious, even though the cause of death has yet to be established.
Morris’s disappearance and death is a significant blow to the FCO, not least because of his experience and seniority and his vast knowledge of the inner workings of British diplomacy.
Morris joined the FCO in 1990 and in the course of a 30-year career he developed a remarkably strong profile, including a stint as the head of the Pacific department of the British diplomatic service.
His last major diplomatic posting was as British ambassador to Nepal between 2015 and 2019.
In that capacity, Morris hosted Prince Harry when the dissident Duke of Sussex (now estranged from the royal family) visited Nepal in March 2016.
Before his disappearance Morris was set to become the UK’s new High Commissioner to Fiji.
