US-Israeli genocide
Nearly six months into Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, the regime’s relentless bombardment and shelling claim more lives in the besieged Palestinian territory. The latest airstrikes hit a home in the southern city of Rafah overnight. At least eight people, mostly women and children, were killed as a result. Also in the south, three others lost their lives in the city of Khan Yunis. To the north, the city of Jabalia came under fresh shelling and airstrikes as well. The Israeli regime began its war on Gaza on October 7. Since then, almost 32,000 people have been killed in the Palestinian territory. Most of them are women and children. 7,000 people also remain unaccounted for. Over 74,000 have been injured as well.
Call for humanitarian pause
Twenty-seven leaders of the European Union have called for an immediate humanitarian pause in the Gaza Strip as a prelude to a sustainable ceasefire. The EU leaders made the request in a statement after a meeting of the European Council in Brussels. They also urged Israel not to launch its planned ground operation in Rafah, saying it would worsen the already catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza. They added that the Rafah offensive would also prevent the provision of basic services and humanitarian assistance to civilians. The EU leaders expressed deep concern about the catastrophic situation of children in Gaza and the imminent risk of famine caused by the insufficient entry of aid. They called for full, rapid, and unhindered humanitarian access into Gaza.
West Bank crackdown
The Israeli regime’s forces have carried out new raids on various areas in the occupied West Bank, including in Tubas. They have also clashed with Palestinian resistance fighters defending the areas, making arrests.
