Israel continues to bomb southern Lebanon despite framework deal

Israeli airstrikes have escalated against southern Lebanon despite a Washington-brokered framework agreement signed by Tel Aviv and Beirut to end hostilities.

The Israeli forces launched airstrikes on Sunday on several areas in southern Lebanon, including inside the so-called yellow line, in fresh violations of the US-brokered framework deal signed in June.

The National News Agency (NNA) reported that southern Lebanese districts and towns in Tyre, Nabatieh, Marjayoun and Bint Jbeil came under attack.

Mansouri, Wadi Zibqin, Nabatieh al-Fawqa, Kfar Tibnit, Mayfadoun, Kafr Rumman, Mazraat al-Shomeriya, Al-Qusayr, Beit Yahoun, Safarin and Hadatha were also targeted in the Israeli strikes.

The official Lebanese outlet reported that several homes in Mansouri in the Tyre district were destroyed in the airstrikes, while Wadi Zibqin came under artillery fire, accompanied by heavy machine-gun fire from Israeli forces.

Israeli warplanes carried out a series of overnight airstrikes, hitting Nabatieh al-Fawqa twice, as well as the outskirts of Kfar Tibnit and the town of Mayfadoun, where one strike completely destroyed a house.

Israeli artillery shelled the Doha Kafr Rumman area in Nabatieh district as well as the outskirts of Mazraat al-Shomeriya and the town of Al-Qusayr in the Marjayoun district.

In Beit Yahoun and Bint Jbeil, Israeli forces conducted machine-gun fire while an Israeli tank attacked Hadatha town, firing four shells before the Israeli ground forces moved in, setting the area on fire.

A Press TV correspondent says Israeli forces continued their relentless attacks on south Lebanon on Monday, with explosions and rising smoke reported from the Hojer Valley area.

Israeli forces have been continuously wreaking havoc in southern Lebanon since March 2, launching attacks in Lebanese territory, killing at least 4,386 people.

The escalation has killed entire families, displaced returning residents, and included controlled demolition of the Ali al-Taher hill.

In addition, the Israeli forces have wounded 12,407 people in southern Lebanon, forcing more than a million people to flee the area.

Hezbollah MP: US-sponsored Lebanon-Israel framework agreement 'null and void'

A Lebanese lawmaker has sharply criticized the US-sponsored framework agreement between the Beirut government and the Tel Aviv regime as "null and void".

Political figures, scholars, and other prominent personalities in Lebanon have categorically rejected the framework deal and direct talks with the Israeli regime.

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said the Tel Aviv forces would not allow the Lebanese people to return to the so-called security belt area controlled by Israeli forces, saying they will continue their occupation of southern Lebanon until the Lebanese resistance movement “Hezbollah is disarmed."

Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem has asserted that the Lebanese resistance movement will never hand over its weapons and surrender to the occupying Israeli forces.
