Iran’s Ghalibaf vows the country will become a major international actor if it wins the current war.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf says the country will become a global powerhouse and a key international actor if it ultimately wins its fight against the US-Israeli war of aggression.

In an audio message released on Wednesday and carried by local news agencies, Qalibaf said that Iran will reap the benefits of winning the war, including its economic advantages.

“The ultimate victory in this war will transform Iran into an influential player in the international system, and this very achievement will pave the way for the material and spiritual progress of the country,” he said.

The parliament speaker, however, admitted that people in Iran have suffered because of the war and the resulting economic hardships.

Qalibaf insisted that the country needs unity and solidarity more than ever before, calling on Iranians to make sacrifices to facilitate Iran’s progress toward victory.

“Today is the time for everyone to help one another so that we can achieve the great goal of victory and pride for our dear Iran with less difficulty… Naturally, reaching such a great accomplishment comes with its own hardships,” he said.

The seasoned Iranian politician led an Iranian delegation to talks in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, on April 11–12 with the United States, several days after Pakistan mediated a ceasefire to halt the US-Israeli aggression against Iran that had begun in late February.

The talks collapsed because of what Qalibaf and other Iranian authorities described as US maximalist demands for a deal that could permanently end the war of aggression.

In his Wednesday message, Qalibaf said the US is hoping its economic pressure on Iran and its so-called naval blockade of the country could affect the Iranian people and cause them to rebel against their own government.

However, he said that history has shown that Iranians withstand as much pressure as needed to protect the dignity of their country and religion.
