An adviser to the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force says Iranian defense specialists are reverse-engineering military equipment captured from the United States during its imposed war against Iran.
Brigadier General Ali Balali made the remarks on Sunday, reaffirming the Iranian armed forces’ full readiness to defend the country against any act of aggression.
“Various pieces of equipment and a range of assets have been captured from the enemy, and [Iran’s] defense industry specialists are currently reverse-engineering them,” he said.
He added that the main objective was to make the most of available capabilities to advance technical knowledge and enhance Iran’s defense industry.
The US and Israel jointly began an unprovoked aggression against Iran on February 28 by targeting Iran’s top officials, commanders, and civilians in addition to infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and railway lines.
In response, the Iranian armed forces launched powerful retaliatory attacks against US and Israeli assets in the region, dealing heavy blows to the invading coalition.
The war came to a halt after 40 days with a ceasefire, which was then formalized in mid-June by signing the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding by the presidents of Iran and the US.
The US has repeatedly violated the Islamabad memorandum by both launching sporadic attacks on Iran's southern shores and imposing a naval blockade on the country.
Iran enhances its defense capabilities after US-Israeli war
The IRGC commander dismissed as “propaganda and psychological warfare” claims by American and Israeli officials that Iran’s military capabilities had been weakened.
He said the enemy sought to undermine public morale and create divisions between the people and officials; however, national unity remained Iran’s strongest defense against foreign threats.
Pointing to the Iranian people’s role in confronting the enemy at different junctures, Balali said they had repeatedly demonstrated their commitment to defending the country and the Islamic establishment.
“This social capital and national unity serve as a strong source of support for the armed forces,” he emphasized.
Iran expands domestic missile and drone production
Balali said Iran’s defense capabilities have been enhanced since the 40-day imposed war, with a significant increase in the resources and equipment available to the armed forces.
He added that domestic production of defense equipment had also been increased.
He said all the necessary facilities and infrastructure for manufacturing missiles, drones and other defense equipment were available inside Iran, adding that Iranian specialists were meeting the country’s defense needs through indigenous expertise.
“Unlike some countries that rely on foreign sources for their security, the Islamic Republic of Iran is not seeking imported security and produces a significant part of its defense requirements domestically,” the IRGC adviser said, stressing that such a process would not be stopped.
“The armed forces are ready and have their fingers on the trigger, and the weapons stockpiles required to defend the country have been secured for many years,” he emphasized.
‘Devastating’ response to enemy’s miscalculation
Balali warned that any miscalculation or hostile action by the enemy would be met with a “severe and devastating” response from Iran.
Iranian armed forces were waiting for an opportunity to respond to any miscalculation by the enemy and would deliver an unforgettable response if necessary, he added.
He stressed the importance of remaining vigilant in the face of any divisive action which would serve the enemy’s objectives, saying, “The enemy knew well that it could not confront a united Iranian nation and was therefore seeking to undermine the country’s internal cohesion.”
Balali concluded by reiterating that the armed forces would continue to rely on domestic capabilities, the expertise of specialists and public support to safeguard Iran’s security and independence.
