US President Donald Trump says his administration will end $4 billion in annual aid to Israel by the end of 2026, acknowledging that the decision follows criticism from Democrats and other opponents of continued US financial support for the Israeli regime.

Trump told Fox News on Tuesday that he and Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu had reached an agreement allowing Washington to end the funding after 2026.

“Now, as far as paying Israel, Bibi Netanyahu and I have made a deal that we give Israel $4 billion a year, and we made a deal months ago that we’re stopping,” he said.

"We've already agreed that by the end of this year we won't be paying Israel. Now we'll help Israel if they need it."

Trump sought to justify the aid cutoff by saying that the Israeli regime no longer needs the funding and that the issue had been used by some Democrats and left-wing politicians to criticize Republicans.

Netanyahu and the Israeli regime have yet to comment on the announcement.

It comes as the Israeli regime has been holding talks with the US on securing assistance from Washington after 2028, when a memorandum of understanding providing US military aid to Israel expires.

Under the 2019–2028 MoU signed under the Obama administration, Washington provides Israel with $3.8 billion in military aid annually.

Beyond this annual assistance, the United States has provided Israel with at least $21.7 billion in direct military aid since October 7, 2023, when Israel launched its genocidal war on Gaza, according to the figures compiled by Brown University’s Costs of War Project.

Despite a "ceasefire," the Israeli regime has continued its attacks on Palestinians almost daily, killing at least 1,580 Palestinians and wounding 5,711 people since October 10, 2025.

Trump's announcement comes as he faces growing criticism over his administration's extensive support for the Israeli regime, an issue that has contributed to a significant decline in his approval ratings in recent years.

Recent polls show that a majority of Americans believe the US is too supportive of Israel, with the proportion holding this view nearly tripling since Israel's genocidal war on Gaza began in 2023.

Experts say that Trump's support has enabled the Israeli regime to continue its genocidal war in Gaza while expanding its atrocities to other countries in the region, including Iran, Lebanon and Syria.
