Iran’s Parliament speaker warns that any potential enemy attack will trigger an “unpredictable” military and strategic response, saying the Islamic Republic is prepared to confront any new aggression and will not limit its response to geographical boundaries.

Addressing an open session of the Parliament on Tuesday, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf highlighted Iran's military preparedness, citing instructions relayed recently to senior commanders by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei outlining the scope and scale of how the armed forces should respond to any new aggression.

“Accordingly, our military and strategic response to any enemy miscalculation will be unpredictable in a way that we will spell an end to their erroneous calculations and [destroy] all their material and non-material assets,” he said.

The United States and its regional allies have learned from the two recent unprovoked wars against Iran that the era of excessive demands is over, the top legislator stated.

“We are at the highest level of defensive readiness on the military and operational fronts. If Washington once again makes a strategic miscalculation, it should know that this time, it will face a new battlefield and will find itself even more desperate than it is today in search of a way out,” he added.

At the same time, the Islamic Republic has delivered “a strong and rational” response to the United States, Qalibaf noted, referring to the conditions the country has outlined through mediators for reopening the strategic Strait of Hormuz that Tehran has closed in retaliation for American violations.

“The ball is now in America's court to prevent a war,” he stated.

The official, meanwhile, identified preservation of national cohesion as the country's most important asset in confronting a potential new war, describing it as both its strongest weapon and its most effective means of deterrence.

Roots of American hostility

Qalibaf also pointed to the forthcoming National Day of Combating Global Arrogance, which is observed annually in Iran to mark the exile of the founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, at the hands of the country’s former US-backed regime, the regime’s killing of students, and the seizure of the US embassy in Tehran following the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

“These three events stem from one common truth: From the day it rose to power until today, and for as long as it can, the United States has sought and will continue to seek to devour Iran,” he said.

According to Qalibaf, in the past, the US would pursue this objective by securing the submission of puppet regimes, but today, faced with the resistance of a united and independent Iranian nation, it is employing military, economic, and cognitive warfare against the nation.

“It is this very steadfastness and resistance on the part of the Iranian people that have brought the usurping Zionist regime and the Americans to a state of desperation, leaving them at a loss as to how to deal with the resilient Iranian nation.”
