Iran has identified over 3,300 surplus government properties valued at an estimated 500 trillion tomans, launching an initiative to transform idle state wealth into active capital to fund national development projects amidst US sanctions.
Amir Rahimi, head of the National Center for Government Asset Monetization, announced that the government is moving swiftly to activate unused assets that have historically remained dormant.
As part of this strategy, the country's first real estate monetization fund is currently in its final stages of establishment at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance.
Surplus properties from subsidiary organizations, including the National Tax Administration and Customs, are already being prepared for entry into the fund.
Highlighting the administration's systematic approach to economic transparency, Rahimi noted that over 95 percent of government assets have now been registered in national databases.
Of the 3,320 surplus properties identified so far, 859 have been officially priced at approximately 150 trillion tomans, and 191 are in the final stages of transfer to the monetization sector.
The initiative has already yielded significant dividends for the national budget, providing a crucial buffer against external economic pressures and reducing the need for deficit spending.
Since its inception, the Center has generated roughly 72 trillion tomans, with 33 trillion tomans deposited directly into the national treasury over the past two months alone, Rahimi said.
Looking to the future, the Center is pioneering the use of modern financial instruments to deepen public participation in the economy and bypass traditional, sanction-vulnerable banking channels.
Rahimi outlined plans to utilize investment funds, unitize real estate, and "tokenize" state assets.
This innovative approach will allow ordinary citizens and private investors to purchase digital shares of high-value government properties.
By leveraging fintech and asset tokenization, Iran is further democratizing its economy, unlocking trapped capital, and solidifying the foundations of the resistance economy against Western attempts to isolate the nation financially.
