Academic: Iran’s military readiness and national unity strengthen deterrence

Reza Vedadi said the Iranian Leader’s meeting with senior military commanders sent a clear message that Tehran remains prepared to defend its sovereignty.

Academic and researcher Reza Vedadi says Iran’s military preparedness and national unity are essential to strengthening the country’s deterrence against external threats.

Speaking to Press TV, Vedadi said the Iranian Leader’s meeting with senior military commanders sent a clear message that Tehran remains prepared to defend its sovereignty and will not allow diplomatic negotiations to be exploited as a cover for military aggression.

He said Iran’s approach to deterrence has evolved, with its defensive capabilities extending beyond geographical boundaries to address threats wherever they may originate. Vedadi also argued that Iran’s updated military target assessments reflect a broader understanding of the assets and infrastructure supporting hostile military operations.

Vedadi further stressed that public solidarity is a fundamental pillar of Iran’s deterrence, arguing that sustained public demonstrations in support of the country strengthen the government’s position in dealing with external pressure. Referring to Venezuela, he said popular resistance and national sovereignty are crucial in preventing foreign powers from imposing their demands on independent countries. He added that public support reinforces the national red lines that Iranian officials must uphold in any diplomatic engagement, making clear that negotiations cannot come at the expense of the country’s sovereignty and strategic interests.
