Iran’s top military commander says the armed forces will respond to any hostile action by the enemy with a “swift, effective” response, without geographical limits.
Major General Ali Abdollahi, Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces and commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, made the remarks in a post on his X account on Saturday.
“Whenever signs of hostile action by the enemy are confirmed, the armed forces will not wait for the enemy to launch an attack before deciding when and how to respond,” he said.
He added that the armed forces are using their full intelligence capabilities to monitor enemy movements and preparations.
They keep their target bank up to date, Abdollahi emphasized.
The post came hours after Gen. Abdollahi and other senior commanders met with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and Commander-in-Chief of Iran's Armed Forces, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, who ordered them to prepare an "immediate, impactful and geographically unrestricted response" to any threat against Iran.
The United States and the Israeli regime waged their first illegal war against Iran, which lasted 12 days, in June 2025. Their second aggression began on February 28, 2026, and came to a halt in early April after 40 days.
In both wars, Iran’s resistance and decisive retaliatory operations forced the aggressors to accept a ceasefire.
Iran has also maintained a tight grip on the Strait of Hormuz since the early days of the second imposed war amid acts of mischief by Washington in the region.
