Warning of 'earth-shattering' blow

Iran has criticized Europe’s support for the US-Israeli wars on Iran, saying governments that backed the aggression are now paying the price of war and terror. Iran’s security chief, General Mohsen Rezaei, said European leaders who once hailed Israel’s 'dirty work are now complaining about the billions of dollars the war has cost them'. This is in reference to the comments made by the German Chancellor on Friday. Friedrich Merz said the economic fallout from the war on Iran has cost Europe more than 100 billion Euros over the past eight months. Soon after the 12-day war began in June last year, Merz said that Israel is doing Europe’s dirty work. In a separate reaction, the Iranian foreign minister said that 100 billion Euros is nothing compared to the earth-shattering blow Iran’s armed forces will deal against those who dare to harm the Iranian nation.

Canada's support for 'baseless claim'

Tehran has slammed Ottawa for supporting the UAE’s baseless claim over three Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf, saying the support contradicts Canada’s long history of defending territorial integrity against threats. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei cited the American invasion during the War of 1812, the 1849 Montreal Annexation Manifesto, and Donald Trump’s repeated remarks about making Canada the 51st US state. Baqaei questioned whether respect for territorial integrity and historical facts is a universal principle for Canada or only applies when its own sovereignty is concerned. The spokesman slammed the UAE's claim over Abu Musa, Greater Tunb and Lesser Tunb, stressing that the islands have been part of Iran for centuries, long before the formation of the United Arab Emirates. This came after a joint statement by the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Canadian Prime Minister contained the UAE’s unfounded claim. The statement was issued during a visit by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi to Ottawa.

Sanctions against Pyonyang

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has denounced a joint statement by the US, South Korea and other partner nations supporting sanctions against Pyongyang. The DPRK described as a strategic failure as well as a wanton violation of its sovereignty, the statement that called for continued enforcement of sanctions against the country. The condemnation was issued after the Multilateral Sanctions Monitoring Team and the European Union called on UN member states to fully implement UN sanctions resolutions that ban the use of North Korean workers and military cooperation with Pyongyang. The North Korean foreign ministry says the stereotyped sanctions racket of the US and the West cannot influence the position of the DPRK as a nuclear weapons state. The Multilateral Sanctions Monitoring Team, MSMT, was established in October 2024 to monitor and report on the implementation of UN sanctions on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
