Thousands of protesters gather in Rome to demonstrate against the Italian government, amid a general strike called by the left-wing USB trade union.
Students have been protesting for weeks, calling for more funding for schools and support for housing. The protests have taken place alongside those of truck drivers and farmers over the spike in fuel prices and the cost of living, as well as rising defense spending.
