Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi underlines the importance of cessation of American aggression and Israeli warmongering to restoration of security in the West Asia region.

The top diplomat made the remarks during a telephone conversation with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi on Tuesday.

Restoring security to the region requires an end to the aggressive and interventionist actions of the United States, as well as curbing of the Israeli regime’s expansionism and warmongering, Araghchi stressed.

He highlighted the devastating consequences of the latest unprovoked US and Israeli military aggression against the Islamic Republic for the region and the world.

The US-Israeli war against Iran began on February 28, claiming the lives of more than 3,000 people and wounding more than 32,000.

The Islamic Republic responded by waging at least 100 waves of decisive and successful retaliatory strikes against hostile targets throughout the region.

The country also closed the strategic Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for the waterway’s being used to facilitate the aggression. Iran reopened the chokepoint, but was forced to reestablish the closure in response to continued American violations.

Tehran has repeatedly condemned Washington and Tel Aviv for the role their atrocities have played in the situation surrounding the waterway, whose closure has sent shockwaves throughout the global energy markets.

Adding to his remarks, Araghchi underscored the need for decisive action by Muslim countries and the international community to counter the continued genocide and expansionism being waged by the Zionist regime.

During the conversation, the Iranian foreign minister also condemned an earlier terrorist attack on a Greek Orthodox church in Jordan’s southern governorate of Karak that killed seven people and injured dozens, expressing his condolences to the survivors.

The Iranian and Jordanian officials, meanwhile, laid emphasis on the importance of applying diplomacy and continuing political consultations towards safeguarding regional peace and stability.
