Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has called for urgent Arab action to confront Israel’s renewed starvation of Palestinians in Gaza and condemned Israeli airstrikes on the Islamic University in Gaza City that killed three university employees and wounded several others.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem urged the Arab League to convene an emergency meeting to confront Israel’s continued deprivation of food and other essential supplies in the besieged Gaza Strip.
“We call on the Arab League to convene an urgent meeting to confront the occupation’s policy of resuming the starvation of the people of the Gaza Strip,” Qassem said.
He also called for mass mobilization across the Arab world to pressure the parties involved to take action against the renewed starvation policy.
“It is unreasonable that Israel repeats the policy of starvation amid the silence of everyone,” he said.
In a separate statement, Hamas slammed Israel for blocking the entry of basic food supplies into Gaza while continuing its military attacks across the Palestinian territory, leaving more than two million Palestinians exposed to hunger, siege and relentless violence.
The movement called on mediators and countries guaranteeing the ceasefire agreement to intervene immediately, pressure Israel to lift the siege and ensure the delivery of urgently needed humanitarian aid.
Hamas stressed that Israel’s actions constituted a disregard for its commitments under the ceasefire agreement and undermined the efforts and pledges made by mediators and guarantor countries.
In another statement issued on Sunday, the Palestinian resistance movement condemned Israeli airstrikes on the Islamic University campus in Gaza City, which killed three university employees and wounded several others while students were present.
Hamas described the strikes as a war crime and part of Israel’s ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
According to the statement, the university campus was struck twice on Sunday. The initial attack wounded several people and prompted the suspension of academic and administrative activities. A subsequent strike killed three Palestinians and injured others.
Hamas slammed the Israeli regime for intensifying its violations of the ceasefire through daily attacks on residential neighborhoods, displacement tents and civilian institutions across the Gaza Strip.
The movement also condemned Israeli forces’ expansion of control over Palestinian land through the westward movement of the so-called yellow line, alongside restrictions on the entry of essential food supplies.
Hamas called on mediators and guarantor countries to take immediate action to stop attacks on civilians, end the siege, facilitate humanitarian relief and compel Israel to honor its obligations under the ceasefire agreement.
The latest attacks took place despite the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, which came into effect on October 10, 2025.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, Israeli forces have killed 1,551 Palestinians and wounded 5,573 others since the ceasefire began.
The toll from the wider genocidal war is considerably higher. Since October 2023, Israel’s military aggression has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians and wounded over 175,000, according to the ministry. Approximately 90 percent of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.
The latest strike on the Islamic University has renewed concerns over the devastation facing Gaza’s education system, with students, educators and academic institutions enduring extensive losses during the Israeli genocidal war
