The Islamic Resistance in Iraq has pledged to stand with Iran in the event of a new round of US-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic, describing the onslaught Tehran is resisting as a battle between truth and falsehood.
“Standing on the right side of history and defeating forces of evil are the whole duty of humankind according to the law of nature. The US-Israeli aggression that the Islamic Republic of Iran is facing depicts the underlying reality of the confrontation between the camp of the truth on one side and the camp of falsehood on the other,” the umbrella group of Iraqi anti-terror fighters announced in a statement on Saturday.
The resistance described standing up firm for the truth as a bounden duty.
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched an unprovoked aggression against Iran. Forty days later, on April 8, due to Iran’s resilience and effective counterattacks, the enemies had no choice but to agree to a ceasefire.
In July, the US launched a series of lethal air strikes on Iran and enforced a naval blockade, breaching the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Islamic Republic, which was signed on June 17 to conclude the war.
In retaliation, the Iranian military executed powerful strikes on key American positions throughout West Asia and announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all vessels.
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq also stated that the US military continues to incessantly violate Iraqi sovereignty and renege on agreements signed with the Baghdad government, as its fighter jets and reconnaissance aircraft have breached Iraqi airspace at least 171 times between September 30 and October 23.
“This is a flagrant violation of the accords reached between the two sides and relevant obligations. It represents a clear violation of all statutory duties, and places the Iraqi government before an ethical obligation to thoroughly inform the public about the unfolding developments,” it stated.
The resistance coalition added that the Iraqi government’s decisions to temporarily halt civilian air traffic and shut down the al-Sheeb border crossing with Iran were all dictated by Washington.
“In the wake of these ongoing violations and encroachment upon self-determination, any declaration of full sovereignty [following the complete withdrawal of US-led coalition forces] constitutes an affront to the dignity and free will of the Iraqi nation,” the group pointed out.
“How can one talk about national sovereignty when fateful decisions, which consolidate US dominion and strengthen its influence at the expense of independent decision-making, are taken abroad?” the umbrella group of Iraqi anti-terror fighters argued.
