The Russian Foreign Ministry has rejected reports that its diplomatic staff, as well as specialists working at an Iranian nuclear power plant, have left Iran amid threats of renewed US aggression.

In a statement posted on its Telegram account on Saturday, the ministry rebuked “false claims” about the evacuation of Russian nationals from the embassy in Tehran and the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP).

“We have noted reports by several hostile news channels alleging that an evacuation of Russian Embassy staff and specialists at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant has begun… We state that neither Embassy staff nor specialists at the Bushehr NPP have any plans to evacuate,” the statement said.

It added that Russian diplomatic and technical work in Iran “continues as normal,” dismissing contrary claims as “disinformation from a well-known source” without identifying the source.

The statement came in response to speculation on social media that Russian nationals stationed in Iran had left the country in anticipation of renewed US aggression.

Reports say that the United States and Israel have prepared plans for a fresh round of military strikes against Iran, nearly seven months after they agreed to a Pakistan-mediated ceasefire ending a 39-day joint aggression against Iran that began in late February.

Iran has indicated that it is prepared to mount a major defense against any renewed aggression.

Most Russian technicians working at the BNPP, Iran’s only nuclear power plant, remained at the facility during the US-Israeli aggression in March and April, despite several air strikes targeting areas near the plant in southern Iran.
