Iran unveiled the Mohajer-10 drone during a ceremony marking Defense Industry Day on August 22, 2023.

Iranian Army Commander-in-Chief Major General Amir Hatami says his forces are fully prepared for asymmetric warfare and have reached a significant level of maturity in developing drones and other unmanned systems.

Hatami made the remarks on Thursday during a visit to a facility manufacturing the Army’s combat and attack drones.

He reiterated that all four branches of the Iranian Army were prepared for asymmetric warfare, saying that during the previous war of this kind, Iran had used equipment that caught the enemy off guard and inflicted heavy blows.

“We have assessed the enemy and are aware of its considerable capabilities but taking all these factors into account, we have prepared ourselves for asymmetric warfare and acquired the equipment required for it,” the top commander added.

He noted that Iran is now “in a better position” both in terms of quality and quantity for asymmetric warfare.

“We know how the enemy will operate and have prepared ourselves to respond from the very same areas it uses,” Hatami emphasized.

He further highlighted the growing role of unmanned systems in modern warfare, saying that drones, unmanned surface vessels and micro air vehicles were being used for an increasingly diverse range of missions.

These systems had a special place in Iran’s defense approach, he noted.

“We have reached a significant level of maturity in drone technology and unmanned systems,” the Army chief pointed out.

The United States and the Israeli regime waged their first illegal war against Iran, which lasted 12 days, in June 2025. Their second aggression began on February 28, 2026, and came to a temporary halt in early April after 40 days.

In both wars, Iran’s resistance and decisive retaliatory operations forced the aggressors to accept a ceasefire.

Iran has also maintained a tight grip on the Strait of Hormuz since the early days of the second imposed war amid acts of mischief by Washington in the region.
