A group of student protesters blocked the entrance to the Louvre Museum in Paris on Monday, preventing the attraction from opening to the public at its scheduled time.

Protesters from 'Ecole du Louvre', the museum's art school, gathered behind metallic barriers at the museum entrance, playing music, singing and chanting slogans in support of the high school student movement and against police repression.

Visitors waited behind barriers as protesters blocked access to the museum, one of Paris' most prominent cultural attractions.

The demonstration comes amid student mobilization in France, with protesters expressing support for high school students and raising concerns over police actions.

Students tried to explain their motivations to visibly upset tourists who planned their visit long in advance.

"We should have been informed earlier, first thing," said Phaneendra Alaparta, a tourist from India who had come to visit the museum with his children.

"Protests happen everywhere in the world, but this is not the way we make people suffer. You should not make the guests suffer, right. We are the guests for this country and we are not getting the right treatment here," he added.
