The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has warned that any new act of aggression against Iran will be met with a more crushing response, fueling a “serious energy crisis” across the globe.
IRGC spokesman Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi made the remarks in an interview with the Tehran Times on Monday as the United States escalates its brazen threats against the Islamic Republic amid its failure to make the nation surrender through illegal war and blockade.
Asked about the possibility of renewed military strikes, he said the United States waged the previous war with all its might, and it is certainly not in a position now to launch a new military assault that would yield any different outcome.
Most US bases in the region have been rendered inactive, he added, noting that US forces are exhausted and worn out, and that they have withdrawn hundreds of kilometers away from Iran.
“From a technical and military standpoint, the US lacks the capability to launch a new conflict. However, as [midterm] elections are approaching, the US may seek to manufacture some achievements,” Mohebbi said.
“We do not rule out any possibilities and are prepared to respond. This time, our response will be much more forceful. Even if the US action is limited, the world will face a serious energy crisis.”

The US and the Israeli regime waged their first criminal war against Iran, which lasted 12 days, in June 2025. Their second aggression began on February 28, 2026, and came to a halt in early April after 40 days.
In both wars, Iran’s resistance and successful retaliatory operations forced the aggressors to accept a ceasefire.
Iran has also maintained a tight grip on the Strait of Hormuz since the early days of the second imposed war, sending energy prices soaring worldwide.
Additionally, in his interview, the spokesman described as truly astonishing the high morale of the IRGC fighters, as well as their ingenuity, patriotism, and commitment to ideals, despite having minimal amenities and facing harsh weather conditions.
He further emphasized that the IRGC’s military capabilities have increased significantly, both quantitatively and qualitatively, and are now at least 1.5 times greater than in the past.
“The production of missiles, drones, and other equipment has never stopped. We have even expanded production, improving range, accuracy, and destructive power, while also developing new weapons,” he said. “If the war escalates, the IRGC’s surprises will reveal themselves.”
Asked whether the IRGC has weapons it has not used in the war, he replied that for a long time, the elite military force was using weapons that had been developed decades ago.
“We never use a weapon intended for more exceptional circumstances in situations that are less exceptional,” he asserted.
Asked if the regional countries would shut down American bases, he said those states will eventually accept this reality as they have come to realize that the US military facilities have done nothing to improve their security and have even put it at risk.
General Mohebbi said the so-called Mecca defense pact, which was signed between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan in August, demonstrated that the regional countries have come to understand that agreements with foreign powers do not serve their interests.
He also highlighted Iran’s commitment to maintain friendly relations with the countries in the region, which all have a shared destiny.
Moreover, he expressed Tehran’s readiness to sign joint agreements with the regional states aimed at establishing security through cooperation and local capabilities.
Referring to an open letter penned late last month by the IRGC to the American people, the spokesman said the letter shed light on some realities, as their leaders lie to them while their media outlets are under tight control.
He added that the enormous costs of America’s warmongering are paid by the Americans, but the money ends up in the pockets of a select group within the country’s ruling establishment.
“Why should they come from thousands of kilometers away to assassinate our Leader, our commanders, and our scientists, threaten to partition Iran, and so on? We find it hard to believe that this is what the American people want,” he said. “What enmity exists between the two nations and their peoples?”
