Rubber bullets and water cannons were used on the streets of Tirana on Sunday, October 18, as the latest wave of protests entered a sixth day in Albania.
Demonstrators demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama have set fire to government buildings as well as banks, smashed shop windows and pulled up pavement stones to throw at police.
Police said 388 people had been charged with criminal offences during the demonstrations. Scores of police officers and protesters have been injured.
Albania's unrest is part of a wave of student activism in Europe, including in France, where high school students have staged weeks of protests and school blockades demanding more teachers and better facilities.
