The Ansarullah resistance movement has denounced the UN Security Council over a statement condemning Yemeni retaliatory operations against Saudi Arabia while the world body is turning a blind eye to the kingdom’s continued and escalating attacks on its southern neighbor.
Mohammed al-Farah, a senior member of Ansarullah’s political bureau, criticized the council for expressing sympathy with Saudi Arabia while ignoring the massacre of Yemenis and the atrocities committed against the Yemeni people.
Such an approach, Farah said, clearly exposed the Security Council’s true nature and its dual standards vis-à-vis critical global issues.
“The council speaks of human rights while it keeps utterly mum on the slaughter of women and children in Yemen, and Israel’s genocidal war in the Gaza Strip,” the prominent Ansarullah official stated.
He added, “Does the council expect a nation whose homes and infrastructure have been razed to the ground, and is besieged, to welcome the missiles of the aggressors instead of defending itself?"
The remarks come as the UN Security Council presidential statement, adopted earlier this week, condemned the Yemeni attacks on Saudi Arabia and called for cooperation to prevent the Sana’a-based government from acquiring arms and related materiel.
3 children killed as Saudi Arabia hits Yemen’s Dhamar with cluster bombs
The condemnation comes as at least three children were killed and 17 people sustained serious injuries after Saudi forces fired cluster munitions toward the villages of al-Arri and Barza'a in the Dawran Aness district of Yemen’s southwestern province of Dhamar.

Yemen’s official Saba news agency, citing local sources, reported that seven children and three women were among those injured in the attack. A pregnant woman had a miscarriage due to the loud sound of the explosion.
The cluster bombs also damaged three homes, destroyed a solar panel installed on an agricultural building, and killed and injured several livestock.
On July 20, the Sana’a administration declared a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia in response to “an unjust and oppressive siege” on Yemen that has persisted for nearly 12 years.
The Yemeni military has reported several successful missions targeting vessels linked to Saudi Arabia in the Red Sea.
In March 2015, Saudi Arabia and its allies imposed a blockade on Yemen and launched a large-scale military campaign, with support from the United States and various Western nations in terms of military, political, and logistical resources.
The ongoing war has led to the deaths of tens of thousands of Yemenis. However, Saudi Arabia has failed to achieve its objective of reinstating a puppet government that serves its interests.
