Violent anti-government protests in Albania have entered a fourth night, with police using tear gas and water cannons to disperse demonstrators demanding Prime Minister Edi Rama’s resignation over alleged corruption, rising living costs and education concerns.
Student-led protesters have also opposed a luxury resort development backed by US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, on the country’s southern coastline.
Rama has rejected calls to resign, urged calm and blamed “foreign hands” for the unrest.
