Devastated families mourn children killed by Pakistan school roof collapse

A school roof collapse in northwestern Pakistan killed 35 people, prompting a probe into building safety.

The local community is mourning the 35 victims of a school roof collapse in Pakistan’s northwestern city of Peshawar.

The victims included 34 children under the age of 13 and a female teacher.

Peshawar police chief Mian Saeed said the collapse was caused by an overloaded roof and a weak structure.

The school’s owner was arrested, he said, as authorities launched an investigation and ordered an audit of similar school buildings.
