Second day of protests against IMF and World Bank in Bangkok

Protests against the IMF and World Bank meetings continued for a second day in Bangkok.

Protests against the IMF and World Bank meetings continued for a second day Friday in Bangkok, as police introduced heavy barricading measures to ensure the meetings continued unaffected.

Hundreds of protestors assembled for a march from outside Lumpini Park to a busy interchange north of where the meetings are taking place, totaling a distance of just over 3 kilometers (1.9 miles).

The march was organized by the Thai NGO Assembly of the Poor and protesters represented, among others, farmers, fishermen and other agriculture workers.

If Thursday's protest was notable for scuffles between protesters and police at a flyover near the venue, Friday's was a much calmer affair.
