Iranian courts have issued rulings totaling more than $290 billion against the United States, says head of the Judiciary’s Center for Lawyers, Official Experts and Family Counselors.

Speaking at a swearing-in ceremony for 505 lawyers in Tehran on Wednesday, Hassan Abdolianpour outlined the center’s efforts to pursue legal action against crimes committed by the US military and the Israeli regime against Iran in domestic and international courts.

“Previously, about $40 billion in judgments have been issued against the United States, including in the case of patients with epidermolysis bullosa (EB), which subsequently led to the seizure of several enemy ships by judicial authorities. This year, more than $290 billion has been awarded against the United States in Iranian courts,” he added.

Abdolianpour said Iran has adopted the same approach used by the United States to pursue legal actions against Washington.

He stressed that expert assessments were essential to legal proceedings, adding that thousands of assessments had been conducted across the country, including in Minab, Lar, Lamerd, Bastak, Bandar Abbas, and Sirik.

He added that “more than a hundred students were martyred and a thousand schools throughout the country and in addition to schools, numerous scientific places such as Sharif University, the University of Science and Technology, and the University of Industry and Mining were attacked by the enemy, all of which we have examined.”

Abdolianpour also cited Tofigh Daru, a pharmaceutical company, among the sites assessed. He questioned why the company was targeted, saying it manufactured specialized medicines for patients suffering from rare and serious illnesses.

The judiciary official further noted that the United States is not a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and is seeking to eliminate it.

He said Iran was pursuing legal action not only through international courts but also under Iranian law, which he said provides for domestic courts to hear cases involving US crimes.

During the ceremony, Pakistani delegation representative General Mohammad Latif Khan Khosa also addressed the importance of the legal profession and international efforts to pursue US crimes.

He emphasized the need for legal cooperation with Iranian lawyers and jurists to bring those responsible for war crimes committed in Iran to justice.

The US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran began on February 28, 2026, with a wave of joint strikes.

On the first day, the attacks martyred Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei along with several senior military commanders and civilians. The attacks also targeted nuclear facilities, schools, and hospitals.

Iran’s Armed Forces responded with Operation True Promise 4, launching waves of missile and drone strikes against US and Israeli targets across the region.

A Pakistan-brokered ceasefire took effect in April, and a 14-point memorandum of understanding was signed in June.

However, Washington repeatedly violated the agreement, including by attempting to force the transit of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz without coordination with Iranian authorities and in direct violation of the MoU's stipulated timelines and conditions.

The Islamic Republic’s Armed Forces have responded swiftly and decisively, intercepting and punishing the violating vessels in accordance with the defensive arrangements established during the war.
