The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has strongly condemned the unfounded claims by British officials attempting to link an alleged security incident at RAF Fairford air base to Iran.

In a formal statement on Monday, the Foreign Ministry described the move as a despicable plot designed to advance an anti-Iran campaign and to evade accountability for Britain’s role in the US-Israeli military aggression against the Iranian nation.

The ministry rejected the allegations outright, stressing that the British government cannot escape its political and legal responsibility, or the potential consequences of its claims, by relying on vague language without presenting any solid evidence or proof.

The ministry specifically criticized the use of terms such as “highly likely” and “almost certainly” as a blatant attempt to lend false credibility to the attribution while sidestepping accountability for baseless accusations.

The statement highlighted Britain’s well-known track record of fabricating security-related allegations against other nations, noting that such practices have, in some instances, contributed to tensions and destructive conflicts in West Asia.

Tehran insisted that the British government must be held accountable for persisting in this dangerous approach that undermines international peace and security.

Categorically rejecting the accusations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the British government, as well as the planners and perpetrators of this clumsy “false flag” operation, fully responsible for all consequences arising from the fabrication.

The Fairford base in southwest England has been used by US bombers to conduct strikes against Iranian territory. Britain authorized Washington in March to use the base for specific attacks against Iranian missiles.

US bombers and other military aircraft have subsequently been seen operating from the base, which is the only facility on mainland Britain used by the United States for this purpose.

British authorities arrested several men near the facility in late September on suspicion of terrorism and explosives offences. The suspects were later released on bail, and no conclusive evidence of an Iranian link has been publicly presented.

Iranian officials have repeatedly described attempts to connect Tehran to the episode as unfounded speculation, particularly in the wake of the joint US-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic.

Tehran has made clear that Britain’s participation in facilitating attacks on Iran, through the provision of bases and facilities, cannot be obscured by media campaigns or evidence-free claims. The Islamic Republic reserves the right to respond appropriately to protect its rights and interests against such provocations.
