A Lebanese lawmaker from Hezbollah’s political wing has dismissed attempts to weaken the Resistance Front in Lebanon as “nothing but an illusion,” stressing that bids to portray his group as a feeble and vulnerable party are part of a calculated Israeli scheme.
“The Zionist enemy and its pawns in Lebanon know very well that they cannot stand up to Hezbollah and its supporters. The true nature of the plans drawn up by these parties, which covertly express loyalty to US-Israeli conspiracies, is gradually coming to light,” Ihab Hamadeh, a member of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc in the parliament, stated during a memorial service on Sunday.
“These parties are fully aware of the fact that no party, neither internal nor external, has the authority and power to weaken, disarm, or force Hezbollah to surrender. That explains their aggressive pursuit of other methods to target Hezbollah and its advocates,” he added.
The Lebanese lawmaker emphasized that Israel’s pawns in Lebanon have long been betting on weakening Hezbollah, but they have failed miserably to advance their anti-Resistance plots ever since the group’s inception more than 40 years ago.
“Despite all wicked conspiracies, Hezbollah did not weaken. It grew, expanded, and turned into a major regional force instead. Hezbollah constitutes the biggest concern and terrifying nightmare of the United States and Israel in the region. Enemies of Hezbollah and its supporters constantly speak of the movement, not because it is weak, but rather because it sends shivers down their spine,” Hamadeh noted.
Hezbollah launched military operations against Israel on March 2 in response to the US-Israeli aggression against Iran, repeated Israeli violations of the 2024 ceasefire, and Israel’s continued occupation of Lebanese territory in the south.
Since then, despite months of negotiations, Israel has continued its military offensive against Lebanon and has killed 4,386 people and wounded 12,413 others, and displaced more than 1 million, according to Lebanese authorities.
On June 26, representatives of the Beirut government and the Tel Aviv regime inked a US-facilitated framework agreement in Washington, which delineates a staged Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese soil and the concurrent deployment of the Lebanese military in territories evacuated by Israeli forces.
The Israeli military continues its assaults despite the agreement and maintains its occupation of Lebanese territory, including regions occupied for many years as well as areas expropriated during recent conflicts and military campaigns.
The secretary-general of the Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem, has dismissed the agreement as illegitimate, unlawful, and humiliating.
