Iranian security forces have arrested terrorists responsible for the assassination of a female officer in Sistan and Baluchestan in southwest Iran in a joint operation, according to a police spokesman.
Saeed Montazerolmahdi said on Monday that intelligence forces cooperated with the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organization to capture the terrorists who killed Nosrat Eftekhari in Sistan and Baluchestan.
Eftekhari served as the provincial police department's deputy for cultural and social affairs. She was on her way to a village in Sistan and Baluchestan where she was killed by explosives.
Montazerolmahdi also said the terrorists are members of the so-called Jaish al-Adl terrorist group and they wounded two of Eftekhari’s colleagues as well.
They were planning to attack multiple law enforcement facilities, using civilian markets and buildings as cover, he said.
The so-called Jaish al-Adl terrorist group is a separatist militant group operating in Sistan and Balouchestan, along the Iran-Pakistan border. They are responsible for numerous terrorist attacks in the province.
On Sunday, several other members of the group were arrested in another joint operation. Security forces discovered the terrorist group’s safe house in Chabahar, where they found several weapons and ammunition.
