Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has told lawmakers that the Islamic Republic, backed by the epic resistance of the Iranian nation, presented its positions at the United Nations with maximum clarity and authority, while putting forward a precise operational plan to restore security in the Strait of Hormuz.

The remarks came during a three-hour meeting on Tuesday night, held as part of ongoing consultations between the Parliament (Majlis) and the diplomatic apparatus.

Ali Babaei Karnami, head of the Social Commission, and a number of other MPs attended the session, in which Araghchi delivered a comprehensive report on the activities of the Iranian delegation at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Referring to the extensive consultations conducted by himself and President Masoud Pezeshkian with participating countries, the foreign minister said the delegation, drawing strength from the Iranian nation’s epic resistance and steadfastness against the military aggression of the enemies, articulated Iran’s positions “in the most resonant and authoritative manner possible.”

Araghchi noted that the UN General Assembly provided an opportunity to explain Iran’s innovative approach and to present a seven-day plan for the return of security to the Strait of Hormuz.

Acting on directives from the country’s competent authorities, the delegation conveyed Iran’s conditions and considerations to mediators in the form of a precise, operational plan.

“It became clear to all that, just as the Islamic Republic of Iran is firm and resolute in its self-defense, it is equally serious about employing diplomatic instruments to secure its national interests and security,” he said.

The foreign minister also addressed questions from the lawmakers and elaborated on a range of foreign-policy and national-security issues. These included economic diplomacy, the neutralization of sanctions, relations with neighboring countries, the strengthening of public and media diplomacy, the documentation of war crimes committed by the United States and the Zionist regime, and the pursuit of justice and retribution for the martyrs of the second and third imposed wars.

For their part, the Members of Parliament commended the efforts and initiatives of the diplomatic apparatus in safeguarding national interests and the rights of the Iranian people.

They stressed the necessity of a collective commitment to national unity and cohesion, and of simultaneous support for both the field and diplomacy in defense of Iran’s sovereignty.
