President Masoud Pezeshkian has held a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, with both sides expressing commitment to expanding strategic cooperation.
During the Wednesday phone call, which coincided with President Putin’s birthday, the Russian leader praised Iran’s “epic steadfastness” in the face of the US-Israeli aggression.
The two presidents reiterated that the strategic partnership between Tehran and Moscow remains unshaken and continues to deepen despite the complex security dynamics and ongoing conflicts in the region.
Highlighting the positive trajectory of Tehran-Moscow relations, President Pezeshkian underscored the necessity of sustaining and strengthening cooperation across various sectors.
He said keeping on this strategic path is in the interest of both nations, particularly as they navigate a rapidly shifting global order.
In response, President Putin expressed gratitude for the Iranian president’s warm birthday wishes, reciprocating with prayers for peace, security, and prosperity for the Iranian government and people.
Putin specifically highlighted the ongoing implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between the two countries.
He assured the Iranian president that despite the current regional developments and turmoil, the framework of cooperation between Tehran and Moscow is being actively pursued and sustained without interruption.
Referring to Iran’s “historical and epic steadfastness” against enemy attacks, the Russian president said the courage and resolve demonstrated by the Iranian people have garnered widespread attention and admiration worldwide.
Addressing the broader regional crisis, President Putin highlighted the ongoing efforts by certain countries to mediate and help reduce tensions. Russia fully supports diplomatic initiatives, he said.
Russia strongly opposes any deployment of NATO military infrastructure in Afghanistan or neighbouring countries, warning that such a presence would fuel instability and conflict.

Putin said Iranian “friends can be confident that Moscow is ready to play a role and provide assistance” in facilitating a dignified resolution to the regional conflicts.
Concluding the phone call, President Putin emphasized the critical importance of maintaining close communications between Tehran and Moscow.
In a gesture of high-level diplomatic respect, the Russian president asked President Pezeshkian to convey his warmest regards and best wishes to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei.
The reaffirmation of ties between Tehran and Moscow comes at a critical juncture in global geopolitics.
As the United States and its allies attempt to enforce unipolar dominance through military aggression and crippling economic sanctions, Iran and Russia have increasingly aligned their strategic, economic, and military frameworks to counter Western hegemony.
