Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) have successfully dismantled multiple operational cells of foreign-backed Takfiri terrorists in the country's southeast, neutralizing the networks responsible for the cowardly assassinations of prominent Sunni scholars and security personnel.
In a series of coordinated, intelligence-led operations across Sistan and Baluchistan and the neighboring Hormozgan province, security forces killed and arrested dozens of terrorists, seizing significant caches of weapons and explosives before they could carry out their sabotage plots.
The General Directorate of Intelligence for Sistan and Baluchistan Province announced the destruction of three core operational cells of the Takfiri group in the counties of Iranshahr, Sarbaz, Saravan, and Zahedan.
In a joint operation with the Hormozgan Province Intelligence Directorate, a further cell was also neutralized in the southern island county of Qeshm.
According to the ministry, the terrorists had undergone specialized military, bombing, and assassination training abroad before infiltrating Iran with the explicit intent of creating insecurity and carrying out acts of sabotage. The operatives had established multiple safe houses to hide their activities.
However, relying on crucial tips from vigilant citizens and seamless cooperation between the provincial police and the IRGC, the intelligence operatives ambushed the terrorists.
Two terrorists were killed in direct clashes with security forces, while 10 members of the imported terrorist teams were arrested.
Significant quantities of military-grade weapons and ammunition were confiscated from their safe houses.
In a separate but related sweep targeting general public security, intelligence forces also dismantled two organized armed criminal gangs, arresting five armed thugs and seizing their equipment.
IRGC eliminates assassins of martyred scholars
In a parallel operation, the Public Relations office of the IRGC Ground Force's Qods Headquarters announced the complete eradication of the specific Takfiri terrorist team responsible for the high-profile assassinations of prominent Sunni scholars and law enforcement personnel.
This terrorist cell was directly linked to the martyrdom of the esteemed Sunni clerics, Molavi Yousef Gorgeijeh and Molavi Mohammad Anvar Rigi, as well as the assassination of two dedicated local police personnel on the Khonjak-Zahedan train.
Following the tracking of the cell's supporters and the initial raid on a safe house in Zahedan, IRGC forces continued their relentless manhunt.
On Sunday, two additional members of this terrorist team were killed in a subsequent operation.
In total, eight members of this specific assassination squad have been eliminated, and two others have been taken into custody.
The assassinations of Molavi Yousef Gorgeijeh and Molavi Mohammad Anvar Rigi were not random acts of violence, but highly calculated strikes orchestrated by foreign intelligence services.
Both clerics were highly respected, unifying figures within the Sunni community of Iran.
Crucially, these Molavis were known for their staunch opposition to Takfiri ideologies and their tireless efforts to foster brotherhood and unity between Shia and Sunni Muslims.
Sistan and Baluchistan, located in Iran's southeast, shares borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan.
This geographic reality has long made the province a primary conduit for foreign intelligence agencies attempting to smuggle weapons, funds, and infiltrate Takfiri terrorists into Iranian territory.
