Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has posted satellite images of the Gaza Strip showing the scale of destruction before and after the Israeli regime’s genocidal war on the besieged territory.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, Jolie asked people to open Google Earth to see the extent of what Israel has done to Gaza and the destruction that is now visible across the territory.
“Whole neighborhoods have been reduced to rubble,” she wrote, describing homes, schools, universities, hospitals, roads, water and sanitation systems and other infrastructure that Palestinians depended on for survival as damaged or destroyed.
UN satellite analysis found that 82 percent of Gaza’s structures had been damaged as of June 16, 2026, with more than 200,000 structures affected and roughly two-thirds destroyed, while more than 371,888 housing units had been damaged or destroyed, over half of hospitals rendered non-functional, and nearly all schools damaged or destroyed.
A joint UN, World Bank, and European Union assessment estimated Gaza’s physical infrastructure damage at $35.2 billion, while putting the total recovery and reconstruction requirement at $71.4 billion over the next decade.
The assessment further found that around 1.9 million Palestinians had been displaced, often repeatedly, while more than 60 percent of Gaza’s population had lost their homes.
Jolie stressed, however, that satellite imagery cannot convey “what it means to live among it, what happened to the families who were killed, and what life is like for those who survived.”
She also warned about the worsening shelter crisis as winter approaches, saying 1.98 million people, or 94 percent of Gaza’s population, require shelter assistance and essential items.
A UN shelter assessment has separately found that 1.98 million people require urgent shelter and household assistance, with more than 80 percent of households living in critical or catastrophic conditions and humanitarian supplies such as mattresses facing repeated delays or rejection.
Jolie concluded by stressing that “the destruction is visible. The needs are known. What matters now is whether they are met.”
According to the latest figures reported by Gaza’s Health Ministry, Israeli attacks have killed at least 74,000 Palestinians and wounded more than 174,000 others since the regime launched its genocidal war on the territory on October 7, 2023.
