Israeli settlers intensify raids in West Bank amid regime’s support

Israeli settlers have intensified devastating raids on Palestinians and their properties in the occupied West Bank amid growing support from the regime.

Reports on Tuesday said settlers had rampaged through several villages across the occupied Palestinian territory overnight in clear attempts to force more Palestinians out of their homes.

Hundreds of settlers attacked Palestinians in Jalud and Qaryut, south of Nablus; al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah; and Ras Karkar and Deir Abu Mash’al, west and northwest of Ramallah.

In Jalud, two homes were set ablaze, leaving them heavily damaged and causing widespread panic among the villagers.

One of the homes belonged to a family who had just returned from more than two months of displacement because of settler attacks. The family had returned home based on an order from an Israeli court, but settlers evicted them hours after their return while Israeli forces were protecting the settlers.

Settlers beat Palestinians, including the elderly, and set fire to cars, tractors, and other belongings, reports said.

The attacks come amid rising support from elements within the Israeli regime who have sought to annex more lands in the West Bank since the start of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023.

Israeli Finance Minister and settler leader Bezalel Smotrich has openly called for a repetition in the West Bank of the genocide Israel has carried out in the Gaza Strip, where it has killed more than 75,000 people, destroyed almost all of the territory’s civilian infrastructure, and displaced more than two million people since October 7, 2023.

The international community has almost unanimously condemned the rise in settler violence in the West Bank, where more than 1,200 Palestinians have been killed by settlers over the past three years.
