US Navy claims four personnel injured in unexplained shipboard ‘mishap’
The US Navy says four personnel were injured in an unexplained “mishap” aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower off Virginia, while separate official data point to as many as 38 casualties across West Asia in September amid Iran’s determined retaliation against American regional interference.
The Navy said late Monday that two naval aviators were ejected from their aircraft during the recovery operation and were subsequently recovered by search-and-rescue personnel.
One sailor was being transported to a Norfolk-area hospital for treatment, the Navy said in a post on X. The Navy did not provide further details on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Meanwhile, according to the US Department of War’s so-called Defense Casualty Analysis System, also known as the DCAS database, 29 sailors and nine Marines were wounded in action in September during West Asia operations.
On February 28, the United States and the Israeli regime launched their latest round of unprovoked aggression against Iran, prompting the Islamic Republic to respond with at least 100 waves of decisive and successful retaliation against hostile targets across the region.
The US Department of War has controversially changed how some casualties are categorized, moving deaths previously listed under “Operation Epic Fury” – the US codename for the war – into the broader “Overseas Operations” category, and arguing that “Operation Epic Fury” ended in May.

Critics have called the approach a means of understating the casualties resulting from the war.
Iranian officials have accused the US War Department of systemically hiding the casualties and broader costs of the war on Iran in an effort to reduce public criticism of the unprovoked war of aggression.
Separately, The Washington Post argued in an analysis that the war has exposed vulnerabilities in the US reliance on overseas military bases.
Citing a recent Department of War inspector general report, the analysis said Iranian strikes damaged or destroyed hundreds of buildings and structures at US bases across the region and elsewhere, while dozens of US aircraft were destroyed or damaged.
It highlighted damage to Naval Support Activity Bahrain, headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet.
“They blew the hell out of Bahrain,” the analysis cited Navy Secretary Hung Cao as saying. “We’re not getting back in there anytime soon,” Adm. Daryl Caudle, chief of naval operations, also told a Navy town hall.
The paper noted that the closure of the Bahrain port has forced the Navy to rely on Diego Garcia, 2,200 miles away, to supply US forces in the region.
It cited a study by the Hudson Institute, an American neoconservative think tank, comparing aircraft shelter construction by China and the United States near Taiwan, and argued for greater investment in both passive and active defenses against missiles and drones.
