Hamas vows to remain committed to Palestine liberation cause
The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has promised it will remain committed to the cause of liberating Palestine and its holy sites from the Israeli occupation.
Hamas said in a statement issued on Monday to mark the 26th anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Intifada that the Israeli regime’s escalation of atrocities against the Palestinians and their holy sites would fail to extinguish the flame of resistance.
“Our compass will remain firmly directed toward liberating the land and holy sites, and we call on our nation and free people around the world to support our people’s struggle and steadfastness until they secure their legitimate rights,” the statement said.
The group, which assumed control of the Gaza Strip some seven years after the Intifada began, said holy sites located in the occupied Quds, including the Al-Aqsa Mosque, have seen growing acts of desecration by extremist settlers under protection from the Israeli regime.

The Intifada began after Israeli settlers raided the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, triggering a continued Palestinian uprising that left nearly 4,500 killed and nearly 50,000 injured over the five years to 2005.
Repeated attempts to desecrate Al-Aqsa also triggered a Hamas operation in the occupied territories outside Gaza in early October 2023 that killed nearly 1,200 Israeli settlers. The operation prompted a genocidal Israeli aggression on Gaza that has killed more than 75,000 Palestinians since.
In its Monday statement, Hamas said major Palestinian factions need to unify their strategy to fight the Israeli regime and seek sustained Arab, Muslim and international support.
It called on all supporters of Palestine around the world to take firm actions against Israeli measures targeting the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
