Yemen warns Arab, Muslim states against joining renewed Saudi war

Yemen’s government spokesperson Omar al-Bukhaiti has condemned a series of recent Saudi attacks on his country, warning Arab and Muslim nations against joining Riyadh’s aggression targeting the Yemeni people.

Referring to a Saudi attack on a prison on Tuesday, al-Bukhaiti said, "The targeting of Saudi prisoners of war showed the Saudi kingdom’s complete moral degeneration" and that Riyadh “does not even care about the blood of those fighting in its own ranks.”

Over the previous 48 hours, Saudi Arabia committed new crimes and massacres in al-Jawf and Ta'iz , including a “heinous crime” in which a house was targeted, according to the Yemeni spokesman.

Al-Bukhaiti reported that six people, including two children and a woman, were killed and several other civilians were injured in the attack, which provided “further proof of the real and criminal nature of the Saudi regime.”

The crime also showed that the Yemeni people have “full legitimacy” to respond to the enemy’s aggression and defend themselves, he added.

Those who have been misled should learn from the crime and quickly leave Saudi camps, which serve as “fuel for the escalation of this country’s crimes against the Yemeni people,” al-Bukhaiti urged.

The targeting of women and infants in Mokha has also reminded the world of Riyadh’s “brutal massacres” against Yemeni women and children over the past 12 years, which have killed more than 60,000 civilians, most of them women and children, he pointed out.

Some countries, Bukhaiti said, have expressed solidarity with the Saudi perpetrators while condemning the legitimate response of the Yemeni people, despite the aggression they have faced.

The Yemeni official urged Arab and Muslim countries not to get involved in the “criminal efforts” of the Saudi enemy to drag them into aggression against the oppressed Yemeni people,.

Bukhaiti said Arab and Muslim governments should focus their efforts on confronting the “real and common threat” facing the oppressed Palestinian people, their occupied land and Islamic holy sites.

“This (the Israeli regime) is the common enemy that threatens all the sons of the Muslim Ummah,” he said. 

Yemen shoots down Saudi UAV over Mokha after deadly airstrikes by Riyadh

Yemeni armed forces have shot down a Saudi armed reconnaissance UAV over the western coastal city of Mokha.

More than a decade of Saudi-led war and blockade against Yemen, which began in 2015 when Riyadh intervened militarily to restore the former regime, has escalated recently as the kingdom continues its attacks against its neighbor.

Saudi Arabia has sharply escalated its aggression in recent weeks, with Yemeni officials reporting hundreds of airstrikes across the country as Riyadh seeks to restore a Saudi-backed regime in Sana’a.

Yemeni armed forces have responded with a major counteroffensive along the Red Sea coast, driving Saudi-supported militants from strategic positions and capturing the port city of Mokha before advancing toward Bab el-Mandeb.

The Yemeni forces have since seized strategic areas and islands around the waterway, significantly strengthening their position at one of the world’s most important maritime chokepoints.
